The Danger of “Be Like Me” Advice — And What Your Own Wiring Has to Say Instead

Tired of one-size-fits-all advice that doesn’t fit you? Discover why “Be Like Me” guidance can backfire — and how your Human Design wiring, especially if you're Tribal or Colective, holds the real key to self-understanding, emotional clarity, and authentic connection.

The Danger of “Be Like Me” Advice — And What Your Own Wiring Has to Say Instead

The “Be Like Me” Myth: A Tribal Legacy

Have you ever felt like you were wired differently?
Like your way of navigating life, relationships, even emotions — just didn’t match what others seemed to expect?

That was me for a long time. Especially in relationships. I could walk into a room and instantly sense the emotional undercurrents. I knew when something wasn’t being said. I felt things deeply. Too deeply, some would say.

But no one really explained why.

I tried all the usual paths — therapy, Kinesiology, self-help books, spiritual teachers and retreats. Each one gave me something, but none of them gave me me.

Until Human Design came along.
And that changed everything.

The Call to Adventure: Discovering I Wasn't "Broken" — Just Tribal

When I first saw my Human Design chart, I had no clue what to do with it. It looked like some cosmic subway map. But slowly, piece by piece, I began to understand the mechanics behind it. And one piece stood out more than any other:

Channel 59-6 - Channel of Mating - A pure creative channel

It was the only channel defined in my chart. Twice.
One line between two centers. One current.
And yet it explained so much.

This is what Human Design calls a Tribal channel — and it’s all about emotional connection, intimacy, boundaries, and bonding.

This isn't about romance, necessarily.
It’s about truth in relationships. About feeling safe enough to connect.
It’s about navigating the push and pull between wanting closeness… and needing space and time to process the emotional wave.

Before I knew this, I spent years thinking I was too intense or too sensitive.
But it turns out, I was simply living the very role I was wired for — the role of the emotional connector in the tribe.
My "weirdness" was actually my gift.

The Threshold: The Trap of Trying to Be Like Everyone Else

I’ll be honest. For a long time, I tried to shut this part of me down.

I admired people who were stoic, who didn’t "get emotional," who seemed to move through life unaffected. I thought: Maybe if I can be more like them, life will be easier.

But here’s the truth:
Trying to be like someone else nearly broke me.

That’s the trap of homogenization. The “be like me” myth. The motivational speech.
It’s sneaky because it shows up in helpful packages — advice, methods, even spiritual teachings.

But if that advice isn’t yours… it’s noise.
Noise that drowns out your unique signal.

Meeting the Mentor: What Circuitry Really Means in Human Design

So let’s pause and break down something important — this thing called Circuitry.

Think of it like the internal wiring of your energy.
Imagine you’re a house. Your circuitry is how the electricity flows. Some homes are wired for intense spotlights. Others for warm, ambient lamps. Some have a party room; others, a meditation den.

In Human Design, the three Circuitry types shows us whether we’re here to focus on:

  • The Individual (breaking norms, forging new paths)
  • The Collective (sharing ideas, logic, and stories with the world)
  • The Tribe (supporting others through resources, care, and connection)

My defined Channel — 59-6 — Channel of Mating — lives in the Tribal Circuit. That means I’m here to build emotional bonds. To foster trust. To be creative. To support and connect others at a deep, often unseen level.

But this also comes with a shadow side.
Because when you're wired to care so much, it’s easy to feel responsible for others' feelings… or to get overwhelmed by emotional waves.

The Abyss: When You Start Living Against Your Wiring

When I ignored my design, everything got harder.

I kept trying to push through, “fix” myself, or adopt someone else’s formula for satisfaction in life. But it never stuck. I’d crash, reset, and feel even more confused.

That’s when I had to ask myself a harder question:

What if my way was the way?

What if I stopped trying to explain or justify "how I feel" or "my moodiness", and instead honored it?
What if the relationships that truly mattered could meet me where I naturally lived — in the realm of honesty, feeling, and trust?

This wasn’t about fixing anything.
It was about surrendering to how I’m designed.

The Return: Owning My Tribal Role — and Helping Others See Theirs

Today, I work with others to decode their own circuitry, their own “map”.
Because being aware of your wiring changes everything.

It’s not just “information.”
It’s permission.

Permission to stop trying to be like the people you follow.
Permission to stop chasing other people’s results.
Permission to build a life that actually works for you — because it’s designed for you, not borrowed from someone else.

And for those of us with Tribal channels, this is even more essential.
We’re here to hold space for others — yes.
But only when we’ve held space for ourselves first.

Final Thought: Your Circuits map in Human Design Is Your Compass

You’re not broken.
You’re not behind.
You’re not “too much.”

You’re just electric in a world that loves its labels.
And when you start honoring the natural flow of your energy — whether it's Tribal like mine, or another flavor or even flavors — you stop fighting yourself… and start flowing with life.

If you’ve ever felt like the world wasn’t built for you, maybe it’s because you were built to create something different.

Trust your wiring.
It knows the way home.
